The Ultimate Guide To The c
The most famous pilot watch of all time, and arguably one of the most instantly recognizable watch designs ever, Navitimer is a classic classic that walks with a fine line between elegance and wild manhood.
Whether you’re in the marketplace for someone or simply shopping through the windows, all you need to know about Breitling Navitimer is here.
Why Buy A Navitimer?
For starters, thanks to the innovative slide base, you’ll never need a calculator again. Its design has not lost this impressive factor despite its presence in the sixties, and despite its existence for a while, the above-mentioned slide rule makes it a bit of expert choice because unless you read the guide (or our cheat sheet below) or if you are a pilot, then Very few people know how to play it right, like Tom Cruise in Top Gun, it’s a bit arrogant without being too flashy, exudes confidence and will definitely give you a loving feeling. Although there is one of the busiest watch watchers and a non-small case size, Navitimer can be worn surprisingly as well, and will suit a range of styles from custom apparel to weekend outfits.
How To Use The Slide Rule
If you went to school when Dickens was a boy, congratulations, you know how to use the slip base. For the rest of us, things are more mystical.
If you want to know how to use it to see if your Airbus A380 has enough fuel to get you where to go, we refer you to this section of the FHH website.
If you just want to know enough to stop your mates from urinating locally because you can’t use your new game, here are three (useful) accounts that you can do with Navitimer.
Six Navitimers To Own
Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43mm
Classically navitimer in its purest form, the B01 Chronograph features a design that has barely changed since its first release in 1952. With its innovative slip base and distinctively crowded disc, it is instantly recognizable as a piece of Breitling’s history – and the science of time. The 43mm hull size is also not scary, as can be seen in the pictures on this page.
Breitling Navitimer 8
When is Navitimer not really a Navitimer? When this new is 8. There is no skid base here just a love inspired by the complexity of the cockpit in the 1930s. With a 41mm size, it’s even more elegant in traditional pilot design and brings us back to Breitling’s history of dashboard tooling. It is even supported by the movement formerly known as Valjoux 7750 – Breitling 13. Overall, 8 strong (out of 10).
Breitling Navitimer Ref.806 1959 Re-Edition
This is not just a reissue; It’s painstaking recreation of the original 1959. Condition dimensions are exactly the same; The base of the slide is in all its complex glory and the port is protected by plexiglass instead of sapphire crystal. The only concessions to freshness are the 30-meter water resistance and SuperLuminova, although they are specially stained to give them a feeling of aging.
Breitling Navitimer B01 Chronograph 43 Pan Am
A certain brand of Golden Crown may be able to claim the first partnership with this airline, but Breitling wins the bets. Institutional ties can go wrong on the tacky side, but this outfit really works. The use of tricolor makes the slip base more clear, the mesh bracelet is very beautiful and the Pan-Am logo on the back of the case adds a touch of “if you know” the design.
Breitling Navitimer Chronograph GMT 46
For those who think there isn’t enough work in the standard Navitimer, here’s one with the addition of GMT functionality as well. The 24-hour time scale is clearly the ideal complexity of the aircraft group, and this iconic pilot appears at home on the hour. By keeping the port pale, it draws attention to the outer rings, which means that while you might have to stare a little, it’s not hard to read.
Breitling Navitimer Automatic 38
The 38mm caseback size has gained popularity over the past two years and this version of Navitimer explains why it has worked. It’s perfect for men who don’t like watches to control the wrist (and who don’t mind the habits of theft of their partner’s watch), while the rose gold tip pushes this design into a slightly more elegant area. A black tie may take this too far, but a Marine Shorts number will be just a ticket (top notch).
A History Of The Navitimer
Launched in 1952 and the successor of Chronomat, the previous experimental watch hour has increased with its innovative slide base. This logarithmic scale, which has its roots in 17th century astronomy, was modified to measure the three most important units of pilots: STAT for standard distance, KM for kilometers and NAUT for nautical miles. Together, these three models allowed pilots to perform complex calculations with ease, such as average speed and fuel consumption.
The pilots were considered so sensitive that the original watch bore the AOPA logo. Willie Breitling, grandson of the founder of the Lyon brand, pushed the flight angle more with ads specifically targeting pilots; Something strengthened Breitling’s reputation as a brand for those who moved to heaven.
The 1960s saw a shift in movement from the original Venus 178 to Valjoux 7740 – ancestor to the now legendary 7750. Then in 1969, Navitimer had the honor of being the watch on which Breitling would place the revolutionary caliber 11-hour watch – the first mechanism chronograph developed in cooperation with Heuer and Dubois, which was immediately recognizable because building the movement required a crown on the left.
However, even the success of Navitimer, its quartz, and LED (yes, the LED display in the center, the sliding base around the outside) could not thwart the effects of the quartz crisis (when battery-powered watches mechanically brutally undermined in the 1970s).
Navitimer’s design had a second half-life as the Sinn watch after Breitling sold the Schneider family that owned the Sicura watches. The brand that was eventually suspended in favor of Breitling.
In a very crucial step, the Schneider family kept a dry powder when they acquired their new; Just when they were sure that the quartz threat had really ended, in the 1990s they relaunched the Navitimer now equipped with the famous Valjoux 7750.
By 2009, the leading Breitling watch had its first movement – the compact wheel-chronograph caliber Breitling 01. A convenient tribute to a designer watch takes their owners to the heights of the world.
